Foreign Students are welcome to take SPE courses where ever they are offered in Canada. Helpful information can be found on the government of Canda website: SPE courses that last less than 6 months (Individual Intensive placements or internships) do not require a study permit. Extended courses and Residencies require a study placement.
Step 1 - Locate a Designated Learning Institution (DLI)
Study permits are only approved for studies taken at a DLI. Use this list to verify your school is a DLI. Step 2 -Apply for a SPE program
Follow the steps to apply for a SPE on the Admissions page. Once the you have been interviewed and accepted into the SPE program by the Supervisor Educator, you can register with the course at the affiliated University/college. Your acceptance letter from the academic institution is required as part of your Study permit application. Step 3 - Apply for a Study Permit
Once you are registered in the SPE course at a university.college, you can fill out the online Study Permit application. It is found online here. You will need these documents to apply for a study permit: You may also need A Study visa can take up to 10 weeks to propcess so apply early. Step 4 - Preparing to come to Canada
Once your Study Permit has been approved, you will need to send in your Photo and fingerprints (Biometrics) Click here to find out more. Step 5 - Arriving in Canada
When you arrive in Canada you will need several documents, including your passwort, port of entry letter of introduction, proof of acceptance from the school that offer SPE, a valid travel document (electronic trqvel authorization, visitors visa), proof of financial support, etc. Please consult government website for full explanation of the process. |
