About the foundation
Objectives
The Foundation is dedicated to advancing excellence in spiritual care through the following priorities:
- Student Bursaries and Financial Support
To provide bursaries and financial assistance to students enrolled in SPE, (or CPE, and PTE) programs, helping to reduce financial barriers and support their continued participation and success in spiritual care training. - Research Grants
To support research initiatives that contribute to advancing knowledge, evidence-based practice, and innovation in spiritual care.
Mission
The Canadian Foundation for Spiritual Care/ Fondation canadienne de soins spirituels (CFSC/FCSS) was created for the purpose of promoting the advancement of Spiritual Care and Education in Canada by fostering research and enhancing training and service possibilities.
Vision
The Foundation aims to support CASC/ACSS Members in their education and professional goals through bursaries and grant programs.

- Student bursary applications: Open June 1 – August 31, 2026
- Research grants: Open year-round
Disbursement of Funds
Summary of Disbursements and Grants:
As of 2025, there have been 196 student bursaries awarded, totaling $189,638. In addition, $8,255 has been provided to CPE educators, and $60,746 has supported 33 research grants in spiritual care.
