Excellence – Research Awards

1. Senior Researcher Award  

The CASC/ACSS Senior Research Award is intended for an established researcher who has a strong publication record in the field of spirituality, religion and wellbeing. Publications will include scholarly journal articles, contributions to anthologies, and/or books. Candidates will normally have completed a doctoral level degree in religion, theology, or a cognate discipline.

Regions or individuals are invited to submit nominations for the Senior Research Award. More than one nomination can be made by each region or individual.

Nominations for the Senior Researcher Award (form 3.4) should be sent to the Vice/Past Chair of the Professional Practice Commission by December 15th. The name and e-mail address of the Vice/Past Chair can be found on the Contacts page under Professional Practice Commission.

This award will be presented at the annual CASC/ACSS conference. Recipients are normally expected to attend the Annual Conference to accept the award.

Requirements:

  • The nominee must be a member in good standing with CASC/ACSS;
  • Nominee’s CV;
  • Letter of nomination from a nominator who is a CASC/ACSS member in good standing or an application by the researcher him/herself;
  • 2 Letters of support from individuals who can speak directly to the impact of the nominee’s work;
  • A statement from the nominee (max 750 words) highlighting significant research contributions (optional); and
  • 5 examples of the nominee’s scholarly writing.

This award includes a certificate and $1,000 (in recognition of the costs involved in doing and disseminating research, and the value of the research to CASC).

2. New Researcher Award

The CASC/ACSS offers a New Researcher award that honours a researcher who is at the beginning of his/her research journey. This New Researcher designation is for research contributions in the field of spirituality, religion and wellbeing.

Regions or individuals are invited to submit nominations for the New Researcher Award. More than one nomination can be made by each region or individual.

Candidates must be in process of completing a masters or doctoral degree, or be within the first five years of completing this degree. This award will be presented at the annual CASC/ACSS conference.

Nominations for the New Researcher Award (form 3.4) should be sent to the Vice/Past Chair of the Professional Practice Commission by December 15th. The name and e-mail address of the Vice/Past Chair can be found on the Contacts page under Professional Practice Commission.

Requirements:

  •  The nominee must be a member in good standing with CASC/ACSS;
  •  Nominee’s CV;
  •  Letter of nomination from a nominator who is a CASC/ACSS member in good standing or an application by the researcher him/herself;
  • 2 Letters of support from individuals who can speak directly to the impact of the nominee’s work;
  •  A statement from the nominee (max 500 words) highlighting significant research contributions (optional); and
  •  2 examples (ex. published article, manuscripts, dissertation) of the nominee’s scholarly writing.

This award includes a certificate and $400.00.

3. Group Research Award

The CASC/ACSS Group Research Award was established to provide recognition to CASC/ACSS members who are participants in group research projects. This Group Research Award recognizes a CASC member who collaborates with other professionals in the research field of spirituality, religion and wellbeing. In addition it supports the core values of professional connection and interdependence, thus promoting positive relationship with colleagues of various professions as well as with clients.

Regions or individuals are invited to submit nominations for the Group Research Award. More than one nomination can be made by each region or individual.

Nominations for the Group Research Award (form 3.4) should be sent to the Vice/Past Chair of the Professional Practice Commission by December 15th. The name and e-mail address of the Vice/Past Chair can be found on the Contacts page under Professional Practice Commission.

This Group Research Award will be given at the annual CASC/ACSS Conference. This Award may be achieved by an individual CASC/ACSS member who has collaborated with another professional, or to multiple CASC/ACSS members who have all contributed to the same research project. In the latter case, the $400.00 award will be divided among the successful applicants/nominees.

Requirements:

  • The nominee must be a member in good standing with CASC/ACSS;
  • Nominee’s CV;
  • Letter of nomination from a nominator who is a CASC/ACSS member in good standing or an application by the researcher him/herself;
  •  2 Letters of support from individuals who can speak directly to the impact of the nominee’s work;
  •  A statement from the nominee (max 400 words) highlighting the significance of the group research (optional); and
  •  Copy of the published research.

This award includes a certificate and $400.00.
