The Ethics Education Module program has been developed to enhance our understanding of the CASC/ACSS Code of Ethics for Chaplains, Pastoral Counselors, Pastors, Pastoral Educators and Students, and to ensure integration of this code into our lives as spiritual care professionals.
If you are certified as a Specialist in Pastoral Care / Pastoral Counselling or as a Teaching Supervisor, you are required to complete an Ethics Education Module as part of the Peer Review process in order to maintain your certification status. This requirement can be fulfilled at any time during the 5 year period prior to your Peer Review consultation.
This requirement can be fulfilled in one of three ways:
- Completion of the one day Ethics Education Module workshop, at pre-conference workshop at CASC National Conference.
- Completion of the 6 week On-Line Ethics Education Module when available. Click here for more information.
- Completion of a regional one day Ethics Education Module workshop hosted by your Regional Ethics Chair. The availability of these regional workshops will be based on registration. A minimum of three registrants is required to offer the module.

Ethics Education Modules (EEM) are usually 8 hour courses offering a refresher and review of the Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct. An EEM is required for Peer Review, once every five years.
Note: The EEM is distinct from the Course in Professional Ethics offered through a University and required for certification as a specialist. For more information on Professional Ethics courses needed for certification see the list of Universities that offer these Professional Ethics courses below.
